Principal Donors
Bertha and Edward Waldee
Dr. Edward Waldee was an USAID Agriculture Development officer for 20 years and worked in Indonesia, Iran, Jordan and Afghanistan. He received his BS (1937) and PhD (1942) in plant pathology from Iowa State. Bertha Johnson Waldee was a professor and head of clothing and textiles at Utah State and collected textiles while abroad with her husband. The Waldee's donated over 500 pieces from the Middle East and Asia to the textiles and clothing collection. Their gift included a contribution to improve collection storage and was one of the first major gifts to the Morrill Hall project.
Blanche Salisbury
Blanche Salisbury graduated from Iowa State University in 1923 with a degree in Home Economics.
Donna Rae Danielson
As a professor of textiles and clothing at Iowa State from 1964-1991, Donna was always a strong supporter of the museums and other programs. She received her BS (1957) and MS (1961) from Iowa State in applied art. She was a well respected professor, earning the Home Economic Centennial Alumni Award in 1971 and the Outstanding Teacher Award in 1976. She was interested in illustration, and during her lifetime she created many hand-printed Christmas cards that are now included in campus collections.
Edith and Torsten Lagerstrom
Edith and Torsten Lagerstrom were friends of Iowa State University and the University Museums. They gifted their art collection to the University in 1996 and to date it is the second largest collection donated to Iowa State since its founding. The Lagerstrom's lived in Europe, the East Coast and settled onto a ranch and farm in northern Iowa after WWII. Their art collection now provides aesthetic and intellectual content as part of the University Museums Art Collection.
Frederick Martinson
Dr. Martinsen received his MS in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State in 1959. He was involved in land management in Boulder, Colorado.
Iowa State Classes of 2003 and 2004
Each year, the graduating class chooses to give to a class gift that will improve Iowa State. The classes of 2003 and 2004 chose to give to Morrill Hall.
ISU Alumni Association/Bank of America
The ISU Alumni Association sponsors the Iowa State University credit card program through Bank of America of Charlotte, N.C. Royalties paid to the Association, generated from purchases made by more than 30,000 ISU cardholders, help fund valuable student leadership and scholarship programs, as well as other programs of the Association and ISU Athletics.
James and Barbara Palmer
Barbara Raeder Palmer and her late husband Jim have long been great supporters of Iowa State's public art collection. This classroom is dedicated to their love of art and Iowa State. Jim received his electrical engineering degree in 1944 and Barbara earned her home economics degree in 1946. Barbara is a leader in the field of women and philanthropy.
Jeanne MacDuff
Mrs. MacDuff was a junior high school counselor in Richmond, Missouri who received her BS in Applied Art in 1932.
Jerry and JoAnn Sell
Dr. Jerry Sell, Professor Emeritus in Animal Science, taught poultry nutrition. He received three degrees from Iowa State University: BS in Animal Science in 1957, MS in Poultry Science in 1958 and PhD in Poultry Science in 1960. Dr. Sell has received many awards for his teaching and research, including the Excellence in Research Award. JoAnn Adams Sell is a retired elementary school teacher who loved working with children.
John W. Frasche
Mr. Frasche received his BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1928.He died in 2004 just a few months after his 100th birthday.
Lyle and Nancy Campbell
Lyle received his BS in agricultural business from Iowa State in 1966 and went on to earn his MBA from the University of Chicago in 1971. Lyle and Nancy chartered their first bank in central Illinois in 1973 and went on to establish a chain of community banks whose slogan is "We're small. You're big." Lyle is a long time pilot and aviation enthusiast, and he and Nancy enjoy traveling extensively. They have six children, fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Margaret Davidson
Margaret had a lifelong interest in museums and art. She graduated in 1929 with a degree in home economics when Iowa State University was still known as Iowa State College. She was on the staff of Ladies Home Journal for 32 years, and spent 23 of those as the senior editor. She was a free-lance writer and published two books. She earned many honors including induction into the Hall of Fame of the National Home Economics in Business Association and Who's Who of American Women, among others. This center will continue Margaret's legacy of inspiring and educating Iowa State students in arts and culture.
Neva M. Petersen
Neva was instrumental in establishing Iowa State's Farm House Museum and the Brunnier Art Museum. She received a bachelor's degree in applied art in 1930 from Iowa State and her Masters degree in applied art in 1948. At Iowa State University, she was a professor of applied art, teaching interior design, history of furniture and ornament and art history from 1952 until her retirement in 1975. This gallery is a fitting tribute to a beloved faculty member who developed the founding of the University Museums, nurtured its growth, and ensured its future through her teaching, mentorship and philanthropy.
Roy and Bobbi Reiman
Roy and Bobbi Reiman have been long time supporters of Iowa State University. Roy graduated from ISU in 1957 with an agricultural journalism degree and he and Bobbi founded Reiman Publications in 1965. They established Reiman Gardens, Iowa's largest public garden, on the ISU campus in 1995. Bobbi was named an honorary alumna of Iowa State in 2006.
The Campbell Family
The east entrance has been dedicated to Lyle and Nancy Campbell, in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary by their children: Verna C. Malone, Sheryl C. Wimsatt, Craig L. Campbell (BS, Economics, 1978), Douglas L. Campbell, Scott L. Campbell, and Cathleen L. Sanders and their families.
The Family of Mary Alice Anderson Reinhardt
Mary Alice Anderson Reinhardt was a great enthusiast for museums and textiles and strong supporter of the arts. She was an alumna of the textiles and clothing program and graduated in 1949. Her husband and two daughters are also ISU alumni.
The Family of Paul C. Taff
Paul C. Taff earned his BS in agronomy from Iowa State in 1913. He later served as the Iowa State extension assistant director from 1917-1952 and had his office in Morrill Hall. He was a 4-H leader from 1919-1952.
Virginia and George Sidwell
Dr. Sidwell was a Jay L. Lush graduate who received his MS in Animal Science in 1948. In 1954, he received his PhD in Animal Science and his wife, Virginia, received her PhD the same year in Food and Nutrition.
